Belcourt Theater/SNAP Show
The Society for Nashville’s Artistic Photographers was started in 2006 by a group of four friends meeting in a kitchen to talk about photography and quickly grew into a forum for presenting and discussing member’s work in formal and informal settings with about 75 members today.  The group’s goals include fostering artistic growth through an open dialogue of insightful criticism and feedback, leading field trips related to photography of both a practical and historical nature and endorsing and engaging in local and regional photographic exhibitions such as the annual Pushpin show of unframed photos and this exhibit at the Belcourt, our second group showing in this space.   In keeping with the theater’s unique place in Nashville film, our artists were tasked with producing work that shared titles with existing movies.  The ten works presented were chosen by a jury based on their artistic merit in relation to the theme and include photographs from
Holly Ables, Jerry Atnip, Paul Beavers, John Brassil, Laura Carpenter, Eric Hansen, Barry Noland, Jerry Park, Kay Ramming and Brent Spears.

Congrats to all, and we will have to make a night of it for the opening!
This is a juried exhibition. The theme of the images will is:

“Photographic Interpretations of Movie Titles”

The rain delay is a bit of a windfall for us as the opening will coincide with the new Hillsboro Village Art Crawl.

Hang your work in a Sumner County school
Tiffany Dyer is looking to hang photography in the halls of the school she teaches at (Millersville Elementary) and here is her call for entries:
"I teach art at a local elementary school and we have hosted local artists throughout this school year.
Their work has been displayed in the hallway leading to the art room and the students have studied the
work and created work based off the work from this artist. I am starting a Photography project in February
and would love to have some photographs by local artists to display during this month.
The work is hung high enough that the students can not reach it so it is safe in that aspect.
There is no insurance per say on the work but at this time I have had no issues what so ever with it.
I would prefer the work to be framed as I have screws in the wall for hanging.

If it is a standard 8 x 10 or 16 x 20 or something like that; I can provide a frame.
You are welcome to put a price on the work. You never know what parent or teacher will fall in love with it.
I find it very important for my students to understand that there are artists
working and practicing right here in our community.
I will be displaying posters of other photographers as well through out the unit.
If you are interested please contact me as soon as possible."

Thanks!

SNAP has a history of participating in the UNTITLED Groups annual "Glow Show" Fundraiser,
and we should keep it up!

We take $1 per image (10 image max) from group members and put together
a slide show to be projected somewhere in the space.

Things to think about are: Themes? Coordinator(s)? Juried Participation or Open?
